Reserve your spots here

Date: Saturday October 11th

Time: 10:00 to 3:00pm (with a break for lunch)

Location: Planting Justice Mother Farm, El Sobrante (exact location and carpooling/public transport details upon registration or request)

Cost: $5/$10/$15 donation to Planting Justice’s work (no one turned away)

Join Slow Food in supporting Planting Justice by spending a day volunteering at the “Mother Farm” in El Sobrante!  Your leaders for the day will be sharing the processes and practices they use to ensure strong healthy soil and extraordinary diversity, discussing everything from permaculture principles to Integrated Pest Management and Cover Cropping.

As a group, we’ll tour the farm and then dive into work - weeding, planting, turning the soil - as we learn about the practices they use to create a vibrant growing ecosystem with respect for the land, the insects, the soil and the water.  In the middle of the day, we’ll break for some nourishment (BYO lunch) and a deeper discussion of Planting Justice’s work before heading back to the fields.

This will be a day of skills building and knowledge expansion all while supporting the incredible work Planting Justice does to empower people impacted by mass incarceration and social inequities with the skills and resources to cultivate food sovereignty, economic justice, and community healing.
